SLA Examples

There are two basic types of SLA Rules.

  • SLA for starttime: Use this type of SLA Rule when you want to make sure that a given Job or Workflow starts on time.

  • SLA for endtime: Use this type of SLA Rule when you want to make sure that a given Job or Workflow completes on time.

Start Time Example

A start time SLA Rule is useful for situations where, for example, you have a complex Workflow Definition that requires a good deal of time to run, and you want to make sure it gets started early enough to complete its processing.

End Time Example

Assume you have a Workflow Definition that generates internal reports that must be delivered to a team by noon each day. By creating an SLA Rule for the last Job Definition in the Workflow, you can automatically generate Operator Messages, emails, or other types of Alerts indicating that the Job is running late and providing an estimated completion time.
